Birth of a New Church: Crossroads Baptist Church

Crossroads Baptist Church

There is nothing more exciting than the birth of a new church. This was the feeling experienced by a group of burdened believers on February 12, 1997.

Church membership is by profession of faith in Jesus Christ and baptism by immersion. Members may be added by transfer from another Baptist church of like faith and doctrine or by statement of Christian experience.

Worship Service

Join us every Sunday morning for worship, fellowship and preaching of the Word of God. All are welcome!

All members of this church sixteen (16) years of age and older are entitled to vote in all elections, and on all questions submitted to the membership for a vote. A quorum shall consist of those members present at any meeting called for the transaction of business. Robert’s Rules of Order shall govern all meetings, regular or special.

A person may become a member of this church by profession of faith in Jesus Christ and baptism by immersion. Persons already baptized may transfer their membership to this church when it is ascertained that their prior baptism experience complies with the Baptist faith and doctrine.

The Pastor Search Committee will, with as little delay as possible, select for recommendation to the church a minister to become the pastor. The church will be given an opportunity to hear the prospective pastor for at least two (2) worship services, including one Sunday AM service, and to interview him at a designated time before they are required to vote upon his call to become pastor.

Children’s Ministry

Our children’s ministry partners with parents to help their children thrive in all aspects of life, including spiritual growth. Our goal is to give children the opportunity to know Jesus and experience his love for them every week.

We have age appropriate Bible classes for infants through teenagers. These classes are taught by adults who love the Bible and want to see young people grow closer to Christ.

During the Sunday morning worship service, we have a special time for our kids ages 2-6 to learn about God in a way that is just for them. We also have AWANA, which is an evangelism and discipleship program for kids K-5th grade that utilizes games, music, and the Bible to teach kids about Jesus.

Youth Ministry

The church offers a youth ministry for teens who are looking to grow their relationship with Christ. The ministry includes a weekly meeting, Bible study, and outings. It also provides an opportunity for students to engage in outreach activities and service projects. Its leaders also conduct church-wide meetings and supervise youth ministry activities.

Most churches have distinct subcultures that exist on their own. Married folk hang out with other married people, single folks hang out with other singles, and teenagers hang out with their peers in the youth ministry. There is little intermingling between these groups, and most churches do not encourage this intermingling.

The church has several community service programs including the Lord’s Cafe, a free restaurant that serves hot meals to needy families in the area and two ministry closets that distribute clothing. It also has a mini hair salon where skill volunteers cut and style donated hair for those who need it.

Discipleship is available for anyone who wants to take the next step for Jesus. The person is paired with a disciple of the same gender and they work through a 14-week course that teaches them the major Bible truths.

Teens from Wilson, Lee, Stuarts Draft and Riverheads gather Wednesday night in the Salt&Light room to laugh their guts out, play ping pong and hang out with friends while learning straight-forward Bible truths that can be applied to everyday teen-living.

The church is called to care for its members by edifying them and by exhorting them to a life of faithful obedience. She is also responsible for disciplining those whose behavior is contrary to Scripture. The church is also obligated to evangelize the world and plant other churches. This is why we are committed to supporting missions around the globe.
